The Department of French and German offers six bachelor's degree programs (French, French for International Trade, French Education, German, German for International Trade, German Education), a minor in French or German, three distinct study abroad programs, and courses in Italian through the Intermediate Level. This department also plays a major role in fulfilling the needs College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Natural Sciences ' foreign language requirements.

Within the context of these varied offerings in language courses, minors and majors, the department, in cooperation with the IUP College of Education, grants a Bachelor of Science in French or German Education. The education majors represent our largest groups of majors. Our major curricula in the education field adhere to the standards of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania , the State System of Higher Education, the IUP College of Education, and core of majors' courses established for degrees in French or German.
